Fabric Keychains

Fabric Keychains

It will be easy to find the keys in a bag if it is kept with keychains. Look! It is a great idea for DIY gift. Make fabric keychains! Take decorative thick felt of the colors corresponding to the thing you are going to create. We recommend simulating a strawberry in a shape of the heart. Such form will remind the addressee about your special feelings. Scissor out two red hearts and green crown for leaves. Use any filler to make the heart bulking. Buy key ring or re-use the old one. In order to put all those things together you need thread, sewing stuff and a piece of twill tape to connect the strawberry with a ring. You can embellish the finished keychains with buttons, beads, monograms made of felt, or whatever you want.

Coasters

Coasters

To keep the furniture clean and tidy it is recommended to use coasters putting them under bottles, glasses and cups full of various beverages. Such accessories are needed to protect the surface from mechanical damage and condensation. They can be produced of glass, ceramic, cork, or fabric. We offer you to make felted coasters in the form of heart with your own hands. You will need this material of two colors: red and white. Scissor out two cylinders, edge each of them on one side, and slit this side lengthwise into four strips leaving a cup untouched. Now you have two details looking like red and white octopuses, the tentacles of which should be interknitted with each other in the way shown in the picture. That’s it! Now you have two halves of the heart joint together – a beautiful and functional coaster as a gift for someone dear.

Cup Sleeve

Cup Sleeve

The cup sleeve is a very useful thing that can be a cozy gift for your friend, relative or beloved. It is used for protecting hands from a hot glass or cup and at the same time for maintaining the high temperature of beverage inside it as long as possible. You can knit it if you can, but it is much easier to make these cuties of any fabric and decorate them with buttons, beads or appliqued ornament. We recommend presenting a cup together with a sleeve. Measure a distance between the ends of the cup handle, cut a fabric band with the determined width, and pass it through handle.  Do not forget that the length of the band must allow you to overlap the ends equipped with sticker or two buttons and holes, which are easier to be stitched on.

Heart-Shaped Potholders

Heart-Shaped Potholders

Potholders are made of textile, usually cotton, or silicon – the materials withstanding high temperatures. They are used to protect hands when taking hot pans, covers and touching kitchen equipment. This is a very useful thing and a perfect gift for those who are fond of cooking and baking especially if you make it with your own hands. You can choose any style. We offer to make multicolored heart shaped potholders of machine-washable cotton. The material is flexible and does not transfer heat fast. In order to make it sicker, you should take felt and put it inside the two cotton pieces prepared for front and back of a potholder. Then pin this sandwich to provide immobility of its all parts and sew the heart all round. Finally, form a grid of quilt lines making stiches across the almost finished potholder.

DIY sugar cubes

DIY sugar cubes

If you want to make an unusual present, replace a chocolate gift box with a sugar box. It is real fun to use refined sugar instead of sanding one. Moreover, you can make it in some special flavor adding cinnamon, vanilla, rose or orange extract, and other ingredients. So, you should combine the components: sugar (50 gr), water (about half of a teaspoon), and flavors (as much as you want). Do not add a lot of water, just moisture the sugar a little bit but do it evenly. Take molds and fill them with the prepared paste about halfway pressing with a spoon thoroughly. Leave the molds in a dry place at least for 8 hours waiting until the sugar dries up and hardens. Remove the prepared sweet pieces from the forms.

Pressed Flowers In Frame

You can use wild plants to make a present for a friend or relative. In order to preserve them you should use a beautiful glass framed display. So start beforehand! Gather wild flowers or other plants you like, place them on a sheet of paper and put under the press using a book, for example. The press should keep a sheet of paper and flowers on it flat. Leave it for two weeks until the plants dry up. Take a frame with glass and put the dry plants (leaves, flowers with stem or without it, grass) on it. Apply some glue to fix them on a surface and you’ll get a marvelous panel picture! Also you can use a cardboard paper as a ground for pressed flowers or even two pieces of glass to place the pressed plants between them for protection from dust and damage.

Candles in a glass

If you want to present a handmade candle, you are expected to have a glass, wax, wick, putty and a simple pencil. Take a glass, put onto its lip a pencil with a wick whapped on it by one side, while its other side hangs down inside a glass and is fixed on a bottom with some putty. Thus, you provide the vertical position of the wick. Now pour warm melt wax in the glass and wait it to become cool. In order to add some aromatic touch to the candles, use cinnamon sticks. Just take the glass with a candle and adhere the sticks around it one by one using glue. Encircle with a decorative gold or red ribbon to finish the look and light the candle. The fire will warm a glass and cinnamon, which will fill the room with scent of baked apple pipe.
